Hi, I’m Karly.
Hello, my name is Karly Castillo, and I am a masters level intern therapist in the final year of my program at Immaculata University. As a first-generation Latina immigrant from Honduras, I bring a unique perspective to my work, specializing in Latino mental health and advocating for culturally sensitive care.
With four years of experience in the mental health field, including work in addiction facilities, I am dedicated to supporting individuals as they navigate life’s challenges. My counseling approach is rooted in narrative therapy, a collaborative method that empowers clients to rewrite problem-saturated stories and reclaim their strengths. This approach has proven particularly effective for trauma clients, as it provides a space to reframe experiences and foster resilience.
I specialize in teen, young adult, and adult mental health, including grief and loss, women’s mental health, and issues related to trauma. I also focus on working with Latino and LGBTQ+ clients. For Latinos, I help clients explore cultural identity, immigration narratives, and generational stories to uncover sources of strength and belonging. For LGBTQ+ individuals, particularly those transitioning or facing societal challenges, narrative therapy creates a safe and empowering environment to embrace their authentic selves.
My experience in addiction facilities has deepened my understanding of how systemic factors and personal narratives intersect in the journey toward recovery. I am committed to providing a nonjudgmental and empowering space for clients seeking to overcome addiction and build meaningful lives.
I offer both telehealth and in-person sessions, ensuring accessibility and flexibility to meet clients’ diverse needs. I am fluent in both English and Spanish, allowing me to connect with a broader range of clients. My goal is to help clients feel heard, valued, and equipped to thrive in their journeys. I look forward to connecting with you.
