Hi, Iā€™m Feruza.

EMDR Trauma Therapy Grief Loss DBT therapy Addiction Treatment

My name is Feruza Yuvakayeva, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Pennsylvania. I am trained in EMDR, and am a trauma informed therapist. I have specific training on DBT, ACT, CBT, and will frequently use these approaches in treating clients. I am also an IFS oriented clinician, with vast experience ranging from treating clients with addiction, trauma, mood disorders, and significant life changes. I am a very direct and solution-oriented clinician who believes that every person has the capacity to make lasting and meaningful changes in their lives.

I work with families and individuals, and thrive on meaningful connections and the 1:1 work with clients which allows us to really connect and explore patterns of behaviors and thoughts. When working with my clients, I strive to not only understand and heal past experiences that have shaped them, but also to remain grounded and in the present moment to find tangible solutions to current problems, whether it be trauma, addiction, relationship difficulties, self esteem, or struggles with mood regulation. I am also privileged to navigate life transitions and hold space for grief and loss with my clients.

I was an educator and worked with children for more than 10 years, until I realized you cannot help kids without helping the whole family. This resulted in my decision to pursue a degree in Family Psychology at Tashkent State Pedagogical University. This experience solidified my clinical direction, and also provided me with a strong family systems approach.

Upon arrival in the USA, I obtained a BS in Clinical Psychology and Business from Drexel University and an MS in Clinical counseling psychology from Immaculata University with emphasis on CBT and addiction treatment. I had the privilege to work as a clinician at the Caron Foundation for many years, where I helped my clients and their families to battle addiction, and to start their healing process.

Being an immigrant, and someone with the educational scaffolding and background in clinical psychology and counseling, has allowed me to take a multifaceted approach to treatment, and has enriched my understanding of people. My experience and exposure to different cultures has provided me with a deeper understanding and ability to connect with my clients. I am fluent in both English and Russian.

I love mindfulness and meditation. Every morning before work you will find me practicing yoga to prepare my mind and body for the day. During my free time I spend time on the lake next to my home paddle boarding or kayaking when weather pemits. I also enjoy hiking in the woods with my little yorkie who thinks that she is a big dog!

If you feel like working together can be a good fit for you, and if you are looking for a therapist who is invested in you, your success, and who is direction focused and solution oriented, please reach out, and contact me to set up a consultation call.
