Hi, I’m Lauren.

Adult Therapy

Hello, I'm Lauren Newman, LAPC, M. Ed. I am a compassionate therapist dedicated to guiding my clients through life’s challenges and transitions. My empathetic and insightful approach fosters healing, empowerment, and personal growth. I have over 20 years of experience in diverse educational and therapeutic settings, from supporting children and adolescents facing trauma, to working with terminally ill individuals. Prior to receiving my masters in counseling, I spent time as both a teacher and a principal of an alternative high school and managed a charity for terminally-ill children at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

My therapeutic specialties include working with individuals who suffer with eating disorders and supporting family members of loved ones with eating disorders, as I have received specialized training at the Renfrew Center for Eating Disorders.

I also focus on life transitions, assisting my clients with challenging life passages such as losing a loved one, starting a new job, moving from high school to college or college to adult life, becoming an empty nester, or living life after divorce or widowhood.

I am trained in sandtray therapy, creative arts therapies, CBT, and DBT. I tailor my holistic approach to each client’s needs.

My counseling style is rooted in a person-centered approach, where I create a safe, supportive environment. This builds strong, trusting relationships which allows my clients to trust themselves and explore their authentic selves both in the therapy setting and outside of our sessions.

I believe that our circumstances do not define us, even though they may scar us, leaving their mark. I am dedicated to helping my clients tap into their inner strength—strength they may not always realize they possess—to face and challenge life’s difficulties.
