Hi, I’m Dr. Aman Singh

Immigrant Mental Health, Trauma Therapist

My name is Dr. Aman Singh (he/him/his) and “Be the change you wish to see in the world” is a quote that has motivated me in my journey to become a Marriage and Family Therapist. I was born in Punjab, India; moved to Astoria, Queens in New York City and in my prime adolescent years moved to the Philadelphia area.  After obtaining my Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from The Pennsylvania State University in 2013, I enrolled in the Master of Family Therapy Program at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA, where I graduated in June 2017.

While completing my Master’s at Drexel, I took an interest in working with high-risk adolescents and young adults. I treated individuals and families who live in one of the most disadvantaged and under-resourced areas of Philadelphia; and did so because of my strong interest and commitment to working with ethnic minorities and under-served children, adolescents, and young adults.

I graduated with my Doctorate in June 2024 at Drexel University studying Couples and Family Therapy with a focus on marginalized communities. While completing my Doctorate at Drexel, I furthered my interest in Grant Writing for Program Development and Evaluations, Advanced Legal and Ethical Implications, Advanced Family Therapy Theory and Practice, Family Healthcare Policy, Trauma Theory and Models with Vulnerable Populations, and Systemic Approaches to Addictions.

I currently serve as the Executive Board Member and Secretary for Sikh Youth of Philly. I started this non-profit organization to help build awareness and shed light on heavy topics within the Sikh community.

My own experience as an immigrant and ethnic minority in this country has taught me how to negotiate the challenging act of staying true to one’s own culture while successfully assimilating into a new culture.

This experience lies at the heart of my desire to serve minority individuals. I draw from my wealth of understanding to help individuals, and to build trust and rapport between the behavioral health system and those under-served individuals and families. I help individuals and families understand the importance of healing as one unit.

My trauma based therapeutic approach celebrates diversity with a systemic approach. I specialize in Adults, Teens/Young Adults, Trauma, Substance Use, Mental Health, Dual Diagnoses, Life Cycle/Life Transitions, LGBTQ+ Affirming Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Contextual Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Family Therapy, Couples Therapy, Culturally Affirming Therapy, and Immigrant Mental Health.

Apart from English, I also speak Punjabi and Hindi.

If you have questions for me or would like to discuss getting started, I’d be happy to have a free consult call with you.
