Hi, I’m Alyson.
My name is Alyson Kessler, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, with specific training on addiction and trauma informed practice. I specialize in PTSD treatment, and work with chronic, acute, and complex trauma throughout the lifespan.
I provide therapy to clients navigating a range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and personality disorders. I also support clients facing major life transitions, relationship challenges, and the emotional impact of trauma that often accompanies these experiences. I particularly enjoy working with young adults as they develop independence and identity, and with mothers who are managing the complexities of parenthood while striving to find balance and reconnect with their evolving sense of self.
In addition, I work with individuals living with chronic medical conditions, as well as their caregivers. Coping with long-term illness often brings emotional, relational, and psychological challenges—for both those directly affected and those providing care. I aim to support clients in navigating these experiences with resilience, validation, and tools for emotional regulation and connection.
I offer EMDR and other evidence-based trauma therapies to address unresolved trauma and its many manifestations. As an Accredited Relapse Prevention Specialist (ACRPS), I also help individuals in recovery from addiction and alcoholism, using the Gorski Relapse Prevention Method to build stability and long-term wellness. I also provide family therapy to support healthier dynamics and communication within families impacted by mental health or substance use concerns.
I have extensive experience working with first responders and understand the cultural norms and barriers to seeking help that are unique to this community. I offer a safe and confidential space for individuals in high-stress roles to process their experiences and symptoms, including PTSD, grief, and burnout.
My approach is warm, direct, and compassionate. I believe in helping my clients move from surviving to thriving—supporting them as they process the past, strengthen the present, and envision a more fulfilling future.
I see clients both virtually and in-person at our Ardmore, PA office. I hold deep respect for the courage it takes to begin therapy, and I am honored to walk alongside my clients in their healing journey.
Outside of my professional life, I enjoy spending time with my four children. You can often find us at a sports field cheering them on or enjoying time together outdoors.
I earned my Bachelor of Science from Saint Joseph’s University and my Master’s in Social Work from Widener University. I remain committed to ongoing education, particularly in the areas of trauma, addiction, and integrated mental health care.
