Hi, I’m Mikayla.
My name is Mikayla Voller, LPC, (she/her) and I have expertise working with teenagers, children and young adults who have eating concerns, depression, mood disorders, self-harm, trauma, and low self-esteem. If you are hoping to improve your self-image or change your relationship with food, or if you find it hard to talk about how you’re feeling, then we may be a good fit.
I’m a Board-Certified Art Therapist and Mental Health Counselor in Pennsylvania with more than 6 years of experience at various levels of care. I earned my Master’s degree in Art Therapy and Counseling from Drexel University. I offer individual talk therapy and art therapy at our Center City office in Philadelphia. I am also a licensed professional counselor, LPC, in Pennsylvania.
I am committed to understanding your unique perspectives and adapting to your individual needs. As a relational therapist, I value a collaborative approach to our work together. I understand the importance of feeling comfortable and connected to your therapist, and will bring my own authenticity, humor, and empathy to our therapeutic relationship. I wholeheartedly believe that you are capable of living your best life, and that I am here to provide the guidance, processing, creative expression, skills and empowerment to help you do so.
In our sessions, I may focus on enhancing your sense of self, shifting perspectives, processing difficult experiences, overcoming unhelpful behaviors, tapping into your strengths, acquiring new skills, and navigating life’s challenges while celebrating its joys. Art therapy can serve as a creative outlet to express emotions and gain deeper insights, regardless of artistic ability. Art is always an option and never a requirement in our work together. I am also trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) which can be used for emotion regulation and skill building.
As an anti-oppressive therapist, I find it essential to recognize how relationships, society, and systems of oppression can impact an individual’s mental health. My approach is informed by the HAES (Health At Every Size) model, which means that I support clients in developing body neutrality and I recognize that health comes in all body sizes. I am a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and am an affirming therapist.
Spending time outdoors, reading, playing board games with friends, and making art are some things that bring me joy when I’m not at work. I’m also a novice crocheter and film photographer, and I like feel-good TV and indie pop music.
If you believe we might work well together, let’s schedule a free consultation call to discuss your needs.
